After waiting two years of construction, the new Frank Gehry-designed campus for the highly respected New World Symphony, is opening soon.The sparkling,cutting-edge next January 25, the new facility comes to life with a new name The New World Center and promises to be the most technologically advanced Frank Gehry building.NWS is a quite unique institution as it is the leading orchestral academy in America, preparing students to take on leadership roles in orchestras and ensembles around the world. 1,000 students audition to get into the musical academy but only 30 are accepted each year for the three-year program.
Six Days of Festivities:The Grand opening ceremony, Tuesday, January 25th at 7:30 pm, with a formal gathering in the hall followed by an outdoor celebration featuring artist’s videos projected on the exterior wall.The opening concert on Wednesday, January 26th at 7:30 pm, conducted by New World Symphony Founder and Artistic Director, Michael Tilson Thomas, the Grand Opening Gala is scheduled on Saturday, January 29th at 6:30 pm,featuring premiere performances, a dinner under the stars and an after party.
