January 26, 2011 6 - 9pm	Target Wednesday After Hours Exhibitions Opening receptions Join us for the opening reception of our season's exhibitions: Gran Torino: Italian Contemporary Art; My Eyes Have Seen by Robert Farber; The Tale of the Unknown Island by Ester Villalobos and Mar Solis; As of 24-03-07 by María Brito. Crossing the Boundaries: Art & Music — David Amram David Amram has composed more than 100 orchestral and chamber music works, written many scores for Broadway theater and film, including the classic scores for the filmsSplendor in The Grass and The Manchurian Candidate; two operas, including the groundbreaking Holocaust opera The Final Ingredient; and the score for the landmark 1959 documentary Pull My Daisy, narrated by novelist Jack Kerouac. Target has teamed up with The Frost Art Museum to sponsor the museum’s popular programming series Target Wednesday After Hours. Designed to complement Frost exhibitions, these events give visitors the chance to meet contemporary artists and engage with controversial art, live music, talks, films, dance and performance art. Target Wednesday After Hours provide an excellent opportunity to meet and socialize with other people interested in the arts while learning more about the museum, exhibitions and artists. The events are free and open to the public and take place from 6pm – 9pm one Wednesday each month.

February 2, 2011 5:30pm	Meet & Mingle Lecture: Understanding the Baroque Masters - Rubens by Professor David Chang The Frost Art Museum is pleased to announce a special lecture by Professor David Chang, a renowned artist and Frost Professor and Director of Art Education at Florida International University. This lecture will focus on the visual analyses of the precious Baroque masterpieces currently on display at the Frost. It will be followed by a tour and on-site discussion on the special visual qualities as well as materials and methodologies of the Baroque master Rubens and his studio. If you have not yet seen the Baroque exhibition on the 2nd floor of the museum, try to arrive 15-20 minutes early and see it prior to the lecture. February 4-5, 2011 5pm	Rubens and His World – Flemish / Dutch Art in the 17th century Join us for a two-day symposium on Ruben's and his world. This symposium on Flemish and Dutch master's will introduce you to the 17th century masterminds and artists. This event is free to FIU students, faculty, staff and Frost Art Museum members. $10 to the general public.
February 11, 2011 7pm	The Steven & Dorothea Green Critics' Lecture Series presents: "Christo & Jeanne-Claude—Two works in progress:Over the river, project for the Arkansas River, Colorado; The Mastaba, project fro the United Arab Emirates" Join us for the next Green Critics' Lecture series with Christo on February 11, 2011 at 7pm. This lecture will take place at Florida International University's, College of Business Complex, Room 235 located at 11200 SW 8th Street Miami, Florida 33199, please note new time and location. With his wife and creative partner, Jeanne-Claude, Christo has wrapped the Reichstag building in Berlin (1995) and the Pont Neuf bridge in Paris (1985) in fabric. Together they orchestrated a 25-mile fabric fence across Northern California (1976), strung an orange curtain across a Colorado valley (1972) and surrounded 11 islands with floating pink woven polypropylene fabric in Biscayne Bay (1983). Most recently, The Gates transformed 23 miles of Central Park walkways for 16 days in 2005 with 7503 vinyl gates with free-flowing saffron nylon fabric panels. Christo's lecture will address two upcoming projects: Over The Riverand The Mastaba. The Museum will be open prior to the lecture. February 12, 2011 8pm	A Visual Journey through Art & Music An artistic alliance with the Miami Symphony Orchestra featuring violinist Kristóf Baráti winner of the Sixth International Paganini Violin Competition (Moscow 2010). PROGRAM: Maxwell Davies: Five Klee Pictures Garcia: In Memoriam Earle Brown (world premiere) - commissioned by MISO Mozart: Violin Concerto No. 3, K. 216 in G major Respighi: Trittico Botticelliano with Kristóf Baráti, violin Kristóf Baráti was born in Budapest in 1979, into a family of musicians. He spent a large part of his childhood in Venezuela and at the age of 8 performed with the Maracaibo Symphony Orchestra. In 1996, Professor Eduard Wulfson, director of the Stradivarius Society, discovered Barati at the Jacques Thibaud Competition. Since then he became his music advisor and coach. Baráti has participated as guest professor, alongside Ida Haendel, Vadim Repin and Natalia Gutman, at the master-classes organized by Eduard Wulfson, initially at the "Chateau de Champs-sur-Marne" and at the Sorbonne University in Paris. In addition to performing with major orchestras worldwide, Barati is a regular with the Budapest Festival Orchestra conducted by Ivan Fischer and with the Hungarian National Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by Zoltan Kocsis. February 23, 2011 6-9pm	Target Wednesday After Hours The Arts of Myth & Medicine ArtWorks! The Frost will present its third exhibition devoted to art therapy, entitled Artworks! The exhibition will showcase the work of students from Miami-Dade County Public Schools (MDCPS) who participate in the MDCPS art therapy program.
March 4, 2011 7pm	The Steven & Dorothea Green Critics' Lecture Series presents: Dr. Richard Kurin Dr. Richard Kurin, Under Secretary for History, Art and Culture for the Smithsonian Institution, is a former Fulbright-Hays fellow and earned his Ph. D in cultural anthropology from the University of Chicago. He has worked with the Smithsonian since 1976 when he was the director of the Center for Folklife and Cultural Heritage. After over a decade of research, Kurin wrote Hope Diamond: The Legendary History of a Cursed Gem. With his background as a cultural anthropologist, Kurin will discuss the impact that the presence of the diamond created across different cultures and societies throughout history. His book follows the origin of the curse, and how it has evolved as a modern legend which the people of today believe is an 'urban legend'. Dr. Richard Kurin's lecture will be held in the Wertheim Performing Arts Center, Concert Hall across from The Frost Art Museum on FIU's Maidique Campus. The Museum will be open prior to the lecture.
March 9, 2011 6-9pm	Target Wednesday After Hours "Crossing Boundaries: Art and Music" with composer Fred Kaufman Composer Fred Kaufman has published over 130 compositions that have been performed worldwide by international orchestras, including the Moscow Symphony Orchestra. He is a former Fulbright Scholar and author of The African Roots of Jazz, a groundbreaking study rooted in his early musical life as a jazz trumpet player with the Woody Herman Band. The evening will include a multimedia presentation and guided museum tours followed by light refreshments.
