Mar 19, RAPHAEL at Knight Center

Raphael a spanish singer. His first singles were "Te voy a contar mi vida" and "A pesar de todo", among others. Raphael adopted his own peculiar singing style from the beginning; he is known for acting each one of his songs while on stage, emphasizing his gestures with high dramatic effect. It is not unusual for Raphael to ad lib lyrics as to localize a song depending on the venue he's singing at, wear Latin American peasant costumes and dance folk dances within a song, kicking and demolishing a mirror, or doing the moves of a flamenco dancer or a bullfighter onstage. He also possesses a wide vocal range, which he often used in the beginning of his career as to evoke a choirboy approach to some songs.(by wikipedia)

Spring 2011 WALLCAST™ Schedule at New world Center Miami Beach

Created for the New World Center's 7,000-square-foot exterior projection wall, this large-scale and site-specific installation takes its inspiration directly from the new structure and the surrounding historical art deco neighborhood of Miami Beach. Based on thousands of photographs taken over the course of the construction of the new building and images of local architecture, this dynamic digital mural shifts between the recognizable and the abstract, animating and creating new forms on the building’s nighttime façade.

Using the same visual source material, the mural is punctuated by hourly videographic events marking the top of each hour and achieved by altering aspects of the work’s choreography—detail, pacing, palette, rhythm, geometry and pattern. Custom-written software not only creates periodic cycles, but also generates an ever-changing visual experience over time for new and repeat visitors, regardless of the time, the day or the season.

The NWS WALLCAST™ series will allow you to experience select events throughout the season at Miami Beach SoundScape through a striking use of visual and audio technology on a soaring, 7,000-square-foot projection wall.Bring a blanket, share a picnic dinner and enjoy the sights and sounds of the New World Symphony with friends and family!

Each WALLCAST™ is free to the public and does not require a ticket.
